FINAL TRANSACTIONs!

For this week, I am going to talk about a transaction I made during the first week we began this game. Actually, I'm pretty sure I bought share for this company durning the first five minutes along with 5 more. I will be talking about McDonalds, MCD.
Basic Information: McDonalds act as a food retailer worldwide. This company franchises and operates McDonalds restaurants that offer various food items, coffe, soft drinks, coffee, desserts, snacks, and other beverages. Also a full or limited breakfast menu. There are 32,943 restaurants in 117 countries as of June 30, 2011. Because of the population of McDonalds company, and the amount of people go there, is the reason why I bought shares.
I bought 100 shares at $89.24. This is alright considering the 52-week range is $72.14-$95.88. The price I bought it at was towards the top. Its a shame I didn't know this at the time. The price per share now is 85.50 which is only about 30 cents less than the highest price. With that know, I believe I did okay.
McDonalds is a long term investment because it always stays up towards the top. It is one of those companies you never expect to run out of buisness. McDonalds does have a catalyst from time to time, but I didn't consider it a trade because of how well they do.

Competitors:
Yum! brands:
dividends--2.00%
market cap--25.93B

Starbucks:
dividends--1.60%
market cap--32.78B

Market Cap:97.65B

Sector: Consumer Goods
Dividend: 3.00%

Prediction: I predict that the price per share will increase to a higher price of 96.50 per share because it is almost Christmas time and they always come out with holiday foods that are only seasonal. With that, more people will come to get what they can while they can.

My other transaction is Wal Mart Stores Inc.. I accidentally bought 332 shares for this at 58.13 per share. I didn't realize how awful of a mistake this was until now. I looked up the 52 week range and discovered the range was 48.31-59.40. Awful, just awful. In the end, I think it will work out because Wal Mart is a good company and a lot of people will go there for Chrismas shopping. With that said, Wal Mart is a long term investment becuase there are no catalyst involved. Wal Mart offers a dividend of 2.50%. The market cap is 200.05B.

Job shadow PHONE CALL

I am going to shadow the buisness of All About You. This place is known to be a beauty salon. I called  Starr Keys and asked a few questions. As I did this, I was not nervous at all. The questions I asked what I should wear, what time to arrive, where the location was, if I was given a lunch break, and if she had any questions for me. Starr said she did not have any questions for me. From there, I did not have any questions. We said our farewells. I am pretty darn excited to shadow Starr because I have never been to this place. It should be fun and a great learning experience. I am very interested to see what it is like to work in this position.
Starr is a hairdresser. While I am there, I will see how she handles that stuff. As well as what she does in her free time when she isn't working with someone. Cosmetologist are needed throughout the world because that is where people go and get their hair done. Many women also go there to get their nails done, waxing, and tanning. It is also a place where people are able to socialize. The average salary is $22,760 to $37,680.

60 minutesss..parents reaction

What is black friday and when did it get its name, and what is Cyber Monday? What do you think about the video?
Black Friday is the day marking the beginning of busy shopping for Christmas. It is the day following Thanksgiving. Stores have crazy deals at crazy times.
Cyber Monday is the Monday following Black Friday. It is like Black Friday but online.
What do your parents think?
My parents sort of laughed through the whole thing. They thought it was pathetic and unfair. My dad said after only a few minutes that I didn't need to keep playing it because he knew what it was all about. I thought that was rather sad to be honest. After we finished, he said, "they are a bunch of criminals." I couldn't agree more. They thought it was unfair and were disgusted by it. My dad also said that the Pelosi girl is a slime ball while she was being interviewed.

What can you do about your opinion?
I think it is wrong because if normal citizens can do it, why can they? I don't understand why they have the right to break the law as congressmen. It is totally not fair. I can't really do anything about it but to forget about it. The reason why is because a former congressmen even tried writing a law. Hardly anyone showed up. If someone of that power has no say, then why should I have a say?

What did Martha Stewart do and what is insiders trade?
-She had insider information from a friend and she ended up going to prison for a couple of years. It had to do with a medical thing and she sold her stocks. The next day, the information became public. This is obviously illegal.

Journal for WEEK 8!!

Transaction #1...
VFC-- V.F. Corporation.
Basic Information: This company manufactures and designs with North Face, Wranglers, Riders, Lee, Timber Creek by Wrangler brands, Vans, JanSport, Eastpak, Kipling, Napaijrie, Lucy brands, and so on. This company also offers apparel, outdoor gear, skateboard inspired and surf inspired footwear, luggage, foot wear, handbags, and all sorts of accessories. I purchased this company because of the fact that it is involved with a lot of companies. With Christmas coming around, I figured a lot of people would start purchasing winter items that are found in these stores.
Type of transaction: This is a long-term investment because there is not a catalyst for every company that is involved.
52-week Range: Right now the 52-week range is $80.40 - $142.50. I bought 140 shares at $130.01. Obviously, the price was higher but I PREDICT that by the end of this month, the price per share will increase to $140.50. The reason being is now it is winter and people will be purchasing more winter items from these companies. Also, they will buy gifts (snowboards) for Christmas.
Dividend: This company offers a dividend of 2.10%.
Market Cap: 14.58B
Competitors:

Transaction #2...
KFT-- Krafts Food Inc. Common Stock
Basic Information: This company manufactures and markets packaged food products worldwide. They also offer a variety of beverages and food products. Oreo, Nabisco, and LU branded biscuits, and so on are part of this company. I choose to buy shares because a lot of people purchase goods from this company. The type of transaction is a long term investment because there isn't a catalyst.
52-week Range: The range is $29.80-36.30. I bought 400 shares at 34.77. The main reason why is because I PREDICT that the price will continually increase to at least 36.50 by December. Because, I know this sounds ridiculous, but people think the world is going to end soon so many people might buy lots of food to stock up. And then, Christmas and Thanksgiving is coming up where people will purchase more food.
Dividend: This company offers a dividend of 3.30%.
Market Cap: 61.43B
Competitors:
Nestle Ind.:

Candy STOCK Blog

The first thing I noticed when I walked into the room, was the heat. Oh boy. I was warned to shed extra layers, but I was feeling mighty cold that day. The heat from the very beginning was tolerable, but I saw in the future I could possibly sweat. It was then I noticed candy on the floor. All problems vanished. When we were told to go, my mateys and I collected the most candy out of all the groups. Mission accomplished. After sitting for a few minutes, thinking to myselft, I noticed the noise level gradually increasing.
I didn't know what to do. People started to get up and move around. I didn't understand what was going on so I just sat there longer. Then I noticed the movies playing on the wall. It was then I decided that it might be benificial for me to watch them since nobody else was. After watching the short clips playing over and over and over and over again, I decided that it wasn't necassary. I asked a group member what we were doing and he said that we are treating this like a stock market. Duhhh, I felt retarded for not even thinking of that. I then tried to help, but our groups strategy was to keep everything we had knowing that we had the most of all the candy. I watched everybody run around. The temperature of the room kept increasing. It was awful. I learned that i am not gifted to handle these situations.

Game Standards::

3.2:: Students formulate solutions through economic problems.
-Right now I am on level 13 and I am stuck. I have no more land left to build more buildings. Right now, I need more buildings because I need items to hire janitors and rental agents. At the time, I need six janitors and two rental agents. My solution to this is to keep making money off of the contracts/buildings I have now, and to buy more land. With that, I can build more of the needed buildings in order to purchase items to hire janitors and rental agents.

3.1:: Students explain how different economic systems are organized for production, distributions, and consumptions of goods and services.
-I have mostly made a lot of apartments and other homes for this game. This is good because people need a place to live. With that, I get paid for the rental money which I can use to purchase more homes and/or other businesses. I have also purchased a lot of windmills. Windmills take energy and basically turns it into money. Again, with that money I can produce more. I just bought more land which will allow me to produce more buildings. With these buildings, people will purchase the products which give me more items. The cycle goes on.

3.4:: Students demonstrate an understanding of economic principles that influence individual financial planning.
- There are certain task that you have to accomplish in order to get farther in the game. Being the game rebel that I am, I choose to go the way I thought would be most beneficial. It isn't working out so far right now. I built a bunch of apartments/homes to gain specific items and as a faster way to gain little amounts of money more often. Because I did this so much, I forgot to accomplish the more important tasks. The downside to that is I am now behind because I have a group of people I need to hire. With this, I need to come up with a more organized plan in order to get what I need. My plan is too categorize the things I need and spend only so much. Money is not really a big concern for me right now.

4.3::Students evaluate the impact of technology and how it has shaped history and influence in modern world.
-It is important to update all of the buildings. If this is done, then more money/experience points will be made. I have windmills, a lot of windmills. Windmills provide me energy which gives me more money. Other technology could be my corporate centers. These bring a lot of money into my city and technology is used inside those buildings because it is a business center.

4.2::Students analyze current event to better understand the world in which they live.
-I always keep track of the new ventures because it helps me create a better city. If it wasn't for the new ventures, I would probably just purchase random buildings that may not even help down the road. Having friends helps because they help me by telling me what could be improved. The mystery gifts helped me because it gave me extra money. The money can be used to update buildings, buy more plants/parks, and so on.

4.4::Students explain how past events impact the present and the future.
::In the beginning, I bought a lot of random things that I didn't really need at the time. This affects me now because now I actually need other buildings in order to build up and have more things. It also helps me because now because after time, the money all adds up and helps me out. With that money, I could buy land.

5.1::Students incorporate charts, maps and graphs, to answer questions dealing with people, places, events, or environment.
-Charts on this game that help with people are the charts with the items needed in order to hire them. The chart/tabs on the left side of the screen helps me accomplish tasks I need to gain more points in the game. The charts/tabs on the top of the screen helps me keep track of the money I'm making and game points I am making. This is helpful because then I can determine if I have enough money to buy certain products. Also, with the game points, they help me keep track of when I will get a level up. That is good to keep track of because then I will know when I will get new items.

5.3::Students demonstrate an ability to organize and process information about people, places, and environment.
-I put all my three-story and two-flat houses in one area. I also put all my small office buildings together in another area. The reason for this is because it makes it easier for people in the game to find where they need to go. Also, it helps me when I need to update things. If most of my buildings are organized, then it helps me update stuff faster. My windmills are the only thing not organized. I believe this is actually helpful because it saves me land. When I purchase building, sometimes you have to put them in areas that leave small random spots. With those spots, I put in more windmills.

OCCUPY WALL STREET--

AGAINST OCCUPY WALL STREET: I am against this cause because I feel like people should just get a job and work harder. They are the reason that they are put in that posistion. I believe that some people are just becoming part of Occupy Wall Street because they want to give up. Some of them probably think if enough people join, a change will happen. Also, some of them don't hardly even know what their doing. One of their protest I heard on the radio, "When do we want it?! We want it now! What do we want?! We don't know!"

FOR OCCUPY WALL STREET: I am for this cause because I personally have seen people struggle. My mom is a very good example. She had a good income from her marriage until she was divorced. Ever since, for 7 years, she has been trying to support her two kids and herself without a home, a job, or money (not to include the seperation of her other four kids, not by choice). By HERSELF. I believe some people need the extra help. There is a story behind every person. Nobody truly knows what its like to climb out of a hole you were pushed in, unless of course, you have been there. Also, America strongly believes in EQUALITY. So many rules have been made and broken for equity. If equality is such a big deal, then yeah, I believe certain people deserve it. Wouldn't that make everybody more equal??

Week FOUR..

Transaction- MEDTRONIC
After looking at my profile, I realized most of my sectors were technical. It would make sense to look into a medical company. I decided to look at Medtronic (MDT) which is a large cap company that manufactures and sells devised-base medical therapies through out the world. Another reason why I choose to look into this company is because I personally buy producst from this company for my diabetes. Right now, Medtronic's cost would be $32.66 per share. That is a decent price because the 52 week $30.18-$43.33. Obviously, the price is pretty low.  I predict that the company will keep rising slowly and cost $37.50 per share within a few weeks. The reason why I think it will take some time to increase is because it sells stuff at a some-what slow consistent pace. I couldn't find a catalyst, but this company comes out with new products only every now and then. MDT offers a dividend of 2.9%. A competitor to this company would be Johnson and Johnson (JNJ). At this time, Johnson and Johnson is doing better financially compared to MDT. This gives me even a better reason to trade in now because MDT is lower in price and will most likely improve to match up or do better with JNJ.

GREEN- JNJ    BLUE-MDT
Time span- 3 years
In JNJ profile information, it didn't mention that it worked globally, because of that, I think MDT has even better reason to improve since it does work worldwide. I will keep watching MDT and short sell it if it does increase its price per share within a month.

The THIRD week::

I decided to buy 100 shares of Verizon. The reason why is because they are about to come out with a new iPhone. The cost was 35.76 and the 52-week range is $31.60-$38.95. Considering the range, I figured it would be best to buy now while it is in-between the two cost. Because I am investing in Verizon for their new iPhone, I also thought it would be good to invest in Pandora. I bought 500 shares for Pandora with each share costing $12.03. I figured since Pandora is down right now, it is a good time to invest. With people purchasing iPads, iPhones, and other products that involve Pandora, I believe the company will rise. Also, Apple/Verizon are coming out with two new products within the next few months. With that, people will invest and the company will rise. When it gets good, I will sell it. The 52-week range for Pandora is $9.33-$26.00.This is another reason why Pandora was a good purchase.

I sold two of my companies today. The two companies were Amazon and Tiffany. The reason why is obviously because I wasn’t making any money off of them and I couldn’t see any reason for the company to get better. They already came out with a new product recently and it didn’t help the company all that much. I’m going to keep my eye on Amazon to see if it will be worth buying again, but for now, I can’t keep losing money.  I had 270 shares for Tiffany’s company and it was a good purchase because the company was losing money. I sold it because the company is worth more now that they are doing better. I will make money off of it because more people will invest.

WEEK TWOOOO

This week I plan on buying shares for the company called, Goodrich. First, I will look at the 52-week range to give me an idea if this company is worth investing in. The 52-week range is $71.45-$122.33. On Investopedia, Goodrich cost $121.09 for 100 shares. Just by looking on where the price is set at, I am considering deeply in looking at other companies. I’ll start off by looking at Goodrich’s competition. The competitions include, Boeing Co., Honeywell International Inc., Lockheed Martin Corporation, and General Dynamics Inc. Those competitions are all ahead of Goodrich. Boeing Co. cost only $61.92. The 52-week range is $56.01-$80.65.If I were to decide between the two companies, I would rather choose Boeing just because of the price difference and because of its setting on the 52-week range. Overall, I have decided to not invest in either of these companies. I looked at the business summary of the Boeing Company and nothing stood out to me as an encouragement to invest. I’m going to keep watch on Goodrich mainly because after reading the business summary, it seems like a company that could improve. It is involved with a lot of aircraft which is a major way for transportation in the world. I will invest in Goodrich when it reduces to $90.00-$100.00. I think the Boeing Company will increase from $62.37 to $65.00 just because they’re doing the best and more people will invest.

WEEK NUMBER ONEEE

Journal:
When I first purchase 100 stocks for Tiffany (a jewelry company, purchased for $76.54), I did not look at their competitions or even consider looking at other financial sites to see how this company is doing. Ever since, Tiffany has been my biggest lost when it comes to money. Today, the current price is $70.34, with that in mind, I purchased 173 more stocks. I did this instead of making a short-sell so hopefully I will not lose money. I learned I should lookat the 52-week range as well before I invest in a company. The lowest price was $43.20 and the highest was $84.49. As mentioned earlier, I first bought my stocks for $76.54. With the 52-week range, I would have taken Tiffany into better consideration. Another thing I should have looked at is their competitions. Tiffany is not doing as well as their other competitions. The competitions includes, Signet Jewelers LTD., LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA, and Rajesh Exports LTD.. Today, the total value of Tiffany is worth $7,053.00. What I expect out of this company is too keep losing money because nobody really buys a lot of jewelry until the holidays come around (such as Christmas or Valentines Day).Tiffany is a good jewelry company that is well known in New York, so with that, it is hard to me to predict what the cost of this company will be in the future. With the holidays getting closer, I believe the cost will increase.

Did we win or lose? Are we winning or losing?

I believe we are losing because I feel ever since 9/11, our country hasn't held a steady balance when it comes to economy. I understand that we have the need to attack after 9/11, but I feel we are just digging a bigger hole for America to climb out of. We have been in war with Iraq for quite some time and I believe America isn't gaining much good from it. The amount of deaths increases every day. Is it worth it?

..what is my CAUSE?

I would like to do something that involves helping kids. Kids throughout the world have many different problems. Some have difficulty with stress, weight, family, school, and so on. My main focus would probably be helping kids with family problems. My cause will be helping kids cope with divorces.

My EXPECTATIONS for Free Enterprise..

In free enterprise, I expect to learn more about money. All I know about money right now, is how to spend it... on clothes. I expect to learn how to strive in life with the new information I will hopefully learn while taking this class and better myself for the future, especially with the stock market and managing money.  : )
